Case Study 6 - CD (Sleeping With Sirens)
This is the album cover and back for Sleeping With Sirens' album. The cover has a colours scheme of red, black and white which are the three most used colours when it comes to the rock genre because they are bold and stand out. The cover has the bands name in the top left corner in bold font and underneath it there is the name of the single that can be found in the album. The photography on the front cover its animated. There is a list of the tracks that are on the album on the back of the album. There is also a image of the same animated tree that is on the front cover of the album.
Case Study 5 - CD (Pierce The Veil)
This is the album cover for Pierce the Veil's new album. The CD cover is very interesting because it has a number of animated objects which makes up the cover. The font on the album cover looks very cartoon like and the red and white colour schemes makes the CD stand out as it is different and it has bold colours and drawings on it. The album title its at the bottom of the cover in smaller font compared to the name of the band. This is similar to what i am thinking of doing on my CD cover.
Case Study 4 - CD (BMTH)
This is the album cover, spine and back of BMTH Sempiternal. BMTH is the band we based our music video on. The album cover has a pattern on it and the colour scheme its black and gold. This is interesting as it attracts the attention of the audience because of the detailed patterns. The spine of the CD its very simple and it just has the name of the album typed with a relatively big space between the letters. The letters are all capitals and are easy to read. This is something I would like to add to my own CD single as it looks very professional and it is different to putting the album name on the cover of the CD. The back of the CD follows the same colour scheme as the rest of the CD. It has a list of all of the songs found on the album which allows the audience to quickly identify the songs and allows them to make the decision of if they want to buy the CD or not as they know what songs to expect. It has a barcode which will also be included on my CD.
Case Study 3 - Advert (Pierce The Veil)
The advert of Pierce The Veil is the last advert I looked at. This is a digital advert which you can download. It is quite different to the other two case studies i've looked at. It has a different colour scheme which is red and white instead of black and white. Red its also a typical colour used in rock magazines as it is bold and catches your attention quickly. It has a picture of the CD cover they are realising instead of having a picture of the band itself, this is different and interesting. The writing is similarly straight forwards and easy to read. The date of the release of the album allows the audience to know when they will be able to access the album. It also has the ITunes logo and tells the audience that it will be available on there. This is something i want to incorporate in my own advert. The font used to type 'Pierce The Veil' its not something I would want in my own advert as i would rather have a much simpler font. However, it works for this advert as the CD cover has the same font which is their logo.
Case Study 2 - Advert (PVRIS)
PVRIS is another similar band to BMTH. The layout of the adverts very simple and minimal but still gives details of when the album comes out. The white and black colour scheme is again very typical to rock magazines and therefore to the adverts found in them. There is a picture of the lead singer and the other two band members which shows the importance and involvement of all members. The shot type is a close up shot which captures details and facial expressions very well. I would like to use a close up shot inside my CD or as the cover of the CD. The font is very simple and straight forwards just like the advert itself and it allows the audience to get straight to the point. The black and white photography adds to the rock genre as it is considered to be dark and have a lot of heavy and dark emotions. I am considering using black and white photography in my own single advert, so this case study inspires me to do so.
Case Study 1 - Advert (BlackVeil Brides)
Blackveil Brides are a similar to BMTH which we have based our music video around. The layout of the advert is very straight forward and easy to read and follow. The black and white colour schemes is very typical to the rock genre as you would see it in a lot of different magazines. The picture of the band catches the attention quickly before the writing as it is big and it would be easily recognised by the band's fans. I would like to use a similar colour scheme in my own advert for the single we filmed the music video for because it looks put together and i think it goes with the genre. It has the date of when the mixtape comes out and at the top of the page it has a count down. I would also like to include a countdown in my advert because it tells the audience straight away how long its left till the single/album is out without them having to think about dates. The mid shot of the band is also inspiring as it includes all of the band members and shows their importance. In my own advert i am thinking of also using a mid shot.

Team Meeting
As a team we have decided that the font we are going to use is going to be bold and straight forward, nothing hard to read. Also we are going to use a range of different shots for the different parts of the CD.
Planning CD Cover & Advert
We are starting to think about what photography we are going to use for our CD cover, spine and inside and the photography for the advert. We are considering using images with high contrast.

Progress - Rendering
We had to start rendering our music video as we started to add more effects to our music video and without rendering it, the video was very slow and did not play properly. This made our work easier.
Editing - Progress
We have started to edit our music video. We have made a lot of progress and we are now starting to put it all together. So far the video is working well and we are using many of the different types of shots we took in both of the locations.
Studio Shoot - Music Video
We filmed the second part of our music video in the studio, the day after we shot our location parts. We had a few problems when filming this, one of the problems was that one of our band members did not turn up due to a inconvenience, however, we solved this by having me replace him. We got really good lighting by turning them on and off at different speeds. We got a lot of footage such as close ups of all of the band members individually, singing and playing the instruments and also a shot of the whole band playing the whole song.
Location Shooting - Music Video
We shot our location shoot in different parts of Victoria Park with our lead singer (Jack). The video shoot went well as we got many different types of shoot and we filmed many parts in different locations to have enough footage for cutaways. We chose to film most of it by the monument in the park because it had a vintage and gothic look and feel to it. The main problem we faced was trying to film long shots without having members of the public in it. However, we managed to do so. Jack was confident in front of the camera and he put a lot of emotion and effort in performing for the music video.
